Variant is a venture capital firm based in New York City. We focus on new markets, infrastructure, and applications that give users more agency through increased access, knowledge, and ownership. We concentrate our investments at early stage and participate as companies mature into growth.

Since 2020, we’ve worked at the most legally, technically, and culturally contested frontiers in technology. We understand permissionless markets, autonomous software, the regulatory terrain of emerging technology, and how shifts in these areas move culture.
