Elijah Fox

Elijah is an investor with Variant who focuses on technically ambitious early-stage projects. Before Variant, he founded Duality, an exchange that reached over $100M in traded volume and was acquired. At Duality, he published foundational research on the intersection of auction theory and distributed systems. The ideas in that research have since made their way into the roadmaps of the Ethereum and Solana blockchains. Before founding Duality, he received a B.S. in Computation and Cognition from the University of Michigan, motivated by his interest in understanding artificial intelligence through the intersection of cognitive and computer science.

As a former founder with deep technical experience, he works closely with teams building new mechanisms, markets, and infrastructure at the earliest stages.
