Cooper Kunz is an Investment Partner at Variant. Previously, Cooper was the Head of Product & Decentralization at Aztec Labs, where he focused on Aztec’s privacy-first Layer-2 rollup. During his tenure at Aztec, Cooper did some of the industry’s leading work on permissionless rollup architectures, upgrade mechanisms, and zero knowledge proving marketplaces. 

Cooper started his career in crypto in 2018, when he joined the team behind the hashgraph distributed consensus algorithm, and helped build the enterprise focused Layer-1 network now known as Hedera. While at Hedera he led their developer evangelism program and successfully grew their developer ecosystem from 0-1. Cooper then joined forces with NBA star Spencer Dinwiddie as the Chief Technology Officer at Calaxy, which focused on social tokens and NFTs for celebrities.
