Jake is Chief Legal Officer at Variant, where he works with our portfolio to develop legal and regulatory strategies that help them effectively execute their visions. He is the former Chief Policy Officer at Blockchain Association, the largest advocacy group for the crypto industry in Washington, D.C. Before that, he was General Counsel at Compound Labs, where he helped pioneer “progressive decentralization,” a playbook that became hugely influential across the crypto industry.
He began his legal career with Baker McKenzie LLP, where he focused on anti-corruption and anti-money laundering compliance and investigations. He later represented individual and corporate clients in cryptocurrency-related securities litigation and government enforcement defense matters at Kobre & Kim LLP. Jake also clerked for the Honorable Fernando M. Olguin of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
